Professional milestones often end with applause, certificates, and photographs. Yet, I have always believed that meaningful events deserve something more lasting than a collection of pictures stored in our mobile phones.
On July 22, 2026, I had the honour of hosting the Licensed Teachers' Appreciation Ceremony in District Central. The event celebrated educators who had earned their Professional Teaching Licenses, recognising their commitment to continuous learning and professional excellence. Educational leaders, administrators, organisers, and teachers came together to acknowledge an achievement that reflects both dedication and responsibility.
As the ceremony concluded, I found myself asking an important question:
How will this day be remembered?
Instead of letting the event become another forgotten collection of photographs, I decided to create a commemorative newspaper titled The Page of Success. My intention was not merely to report the event, but to preserve the story behind the celebration.
Designing the newspaper became an unexpected learning journey. Every article, caption, photograph, and layout decision required careful thought. I wanted the publication to balance information with storytelling while ensuring that the contributions of educational leadership, the organisers, and every licensed teacher were respectfully represented.
The process also reminded me that professional development does not end when a workshop, conference, or ceremony finishes. Learning becomes meaningful when we transform our experiences into something that others can read, reflect upon, and build upon.
As educators, we often speak about creating learning opportunities for our students. Perhaps we should also create lasting records of our own professional journeys. Documentation is not about recognition alone; it is about preserving institutional memory, celebrating achievement, and inspiring future educators.
The newspaper may only consist of two pages, but behind those pages lies a story of collaboration, leadership, creativity, and a shared commitment to improving education.
Looking back, I realise that the ceremony was not the final achievement.
Documenting it became part of the achievement itself.
